📰 News & Announcements (10.15.2023)

The days may be getting shorter, but the opportunities for connection are abundant. This fall, we celebrate the beauty of change, the comfort of tradition, and the warmth of shared moments. We look forward to making connections with more of the CES community in the coming weeks.

This week is Digital Citizenship Week. To learn more about what digital citizenship means and to find helpful resources for parents, visit commonsense.org.

NEWS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, & REMINDERS

Membership Contest Winner!

Congratulations to Ms. Otchy's 5th grade class for winning the 2023 Class Membership Contest with a whopping 57.14% participation!

We are grateful for all of the parents and staff who joined the PTA this month, and we are hopeful that those numbers will keep growing! It's exciting to see so many people want to be involved in enhancing the educational experience for all of our CES students.

If you did not get a chance to join the PTA during the contest, the door is still open to new members. Click here to join today.

Reflections Art Contest (Oct 1 - Nov 15)

All students in Kindergarten through 6th grade are encouraged to participate in the PTA's Reflections Art Contest. Reflections is a National PTA program that encourages students to reflect on a specific theme and create original artwork for fun and recognition. The theme for 2023-24 is "I am Hopeful Because..." - students will use this theme as inspiration for creative submissions in the following categories: 1) Visual Arts, 2) Photography, 3) Music Composition, and 4) Literature/Creative Writing.

The contest will open for submissions starting October 1st and all entries must be submitted by November 15th. For more information and contest details, please visit the Reflections page on the PTA website.

Kindergarten Chipotle Spirit Night (Tue, Oct 3 | 5-9pm)

The Kindergarten class is holding a fundraiser to help lower the expenses of their field trip to the zoo this spring. Please consider coming out to Chipotle on Tuesday, October 3rd from 5pm-9pm to support the Kindergarten class.

33% of event sales get donated back to the Kindergarten. Dine in and show the attached flyer at checkout or order online for pickup using code K629QT9.

For online orders to count towards the fundraiser, they must be placed for pickup only from the restaurant location of, and during the hours of, the fundraiser. Delivery orders and gift cards do not qualify.

Yearbooks on Sale

The PTA coordinates yearbook production and sales each year. The yearbook is a great way for students to remember their CES experience. Parent volunteers work with other CES parents, teachers, and staff to collect hundreds of photos from numerous school clubs, activities, and events to commemorate these previous elementary school years.

Yearbooks can be pre-ordered and are on sale now. Yearbooks may be available for purchase after delivery (until stock runs out) in late spring. It is advised that you pre-order a yearbook to guarantee delivery. It is also advised that make a note to yourself if/when you order to be sure you remember that you already ordered a yearbook.

Click here to order online - use online code: YB37885.

Yearbooks are $20 until 3/22/2024 and then $22 until 4/12/2024.

PAST EVENTS

September PTA Meeting

If you were not able to make it out to our September PTA meeting, the meeting was live streamed via Facebook and you are able to view the slides and minutes on our website. We had a pretty good turnout for our first meeting and hope to see even more people at the next one!

Family Movie Night

Thank you to everyone who came out to Family Movie Night (and for those of you who donated school supplies!). The kids definitely seemed to have a good time, and we enjoyed seeing everyone get together! We had a pretty good turnout of families despite competing with Homecoming weekend!
