The session allows for 12 classes, and most programs will be 12 weeks long. Some classes, however, will have a shorter duration. Please pay close attention to the descriptions of each class.

The after-school classes will run from 4:00 - 5:00pm after school, unless otherwise noted.​​
​Limited financial aid opportunities are available for those who qualify. Each program has different eligibility requirements. Please contact the program coordinator to inquire when you register. ​​
Session One Classes

TAKE THE STAGE
Grades: 2nd-6th
Day: Thursdays
Time: 4:00-5:00pm
Dates: Sep 25 - Nov 20 (8 weeks)
Cost: $152
Students will learn to use their own unique qualities to become an actor! Through theater games, improvisation, and storytelling, young actors will build their skills and confidence as performers in preparation for a special showcase presentation, held on the last class day. This program has been specially adapted for after-school programs from AFYP’s expanded curriculum of classes and Summer Acting Camps and is a great fit for students with any level of experience. Come “Take the Stage!”
STEAM ARTS & CRAFTS
Grades: K-2nd
Day: Thursdays
Time: 4:00-5:00pm

Fun, hands-on STEAM-based crafting classes designed to teach essential skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Through engaging activities, kids will have the opportunity to create their own games, musical instruments, and toys, all while developing critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. These classes aim to inspire a love of learning and exploration, helping children build confidence and important "super skills" that will enable them to thrive as the creative problem solvers and innovative thinkers of tomorrow. Join us for an exciting journey of discovery and fun that nurtures curiosity, collaboration, and a passion for STEM and the arts!
MINECRAFT PROGRAMMING
Grades: 1st-6th

Minecraft Programming teaches students important problem-solving and design skills by using command block and redstone to build spectacular projects with programming logic. This course is a great precursor to understand real circuitry, electronics and electrical theory. This course allows students to gain an understanding of how computers are processing commands as they move on to other computer science studies, and take home their Redstone creations at the end of the course. Coding fundamentals are reinforced by designing and implementing large-scale Minecraft elevators, rollercoasters, and more!
DEBATE CLUB
Grades: 4th-6th
Day: Thursdays

​Students learn how to create and backup arguments with evidence, think analytically, consider multiple perspectives, and develop research and speaking skills through drills, projects, and debate rounds. Odyssey Debate Academy adapts the standardized 2 vs 2 public forum style of debate to accommodate an elementary group. The reformatted style provides an effective pipeline for upper level debate and builds career-applicable skills.
ULTIMATE P.E. GAMES
Grades: K-6th

Do you want to play in the MOST FUN games kids experience in PE class? If yes, this class is for you! A sampling of games to be played are Nerf Dodge Ball, Dome Ball, Capture the Flag, parachute activities, Omni – kin Ball, and numerous tag games that require strategy and a willingness to have intense joy! This super action-packed session ensures kid movement does not stop until it is time to go home! Kids quickly and often move from one exciting game to the next! Great exercise is guaranteed as kids play in these classic and modern PE games!
ART SMART
Grades: 3rd-6th

The Art Smart Program is an educational, fun, and hands-on way for students to learn about various artists' lives and their works. Students will learn about a different artist each week, exploring their artistic style and medium before breaking out to create their own masterpiece based on the lesson. We will use acrylic paint, watercolor paint, and oil pastels during this session.

NOTE: These classes are 1.5 hours long (4:00-5:30pm) and run on a different schedule than the other after-school classes.
INTRO TO BLOCK CODING
Grades: 4th-6th

NextGen Coding offers a dynamic after-school coding program designed to empower elementary students with essential skills for success in a digital world. Our engaging curriculum provides a fun and interactive introduction to programming through block coding, where students explore coding fundamentals, enhance problem-solving abilities, and unleash their creativity through hands-on activities and interactive lessons. Join us to inspire the next generation of young coders!
CHESS CLUB
Grades: K-6th

Learn chess with Silver Knights Chess Academy (formerly Magnus Academy)! We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state & national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments outside of club time, which may have an additional fee. All chess supplies provided. We welcome all grades and skill levels!
